There’s a certain “style” of babble that’s Maya’s signature these days, and I realized that if I didn’t catch it on video, I’d hate myself for it later. Ever since her teeth came in (she still only has the bottom two), she runs her tongue from side to side while saying, “la-dee-daaaaaa-dee-daaaaa…” Try it. The kid is coordinated; I know I can’t do it.
Two other things in this video I want to remember:
With her newfound mobility, Maya chases the dogs around.

Maya loves to babble and chatter…I have *no* idea where she gets that from. What I think is funny is that she often combines her two favorite syllables — ba and la — so often what she says is “blah, blah, blah, blah…”

Maya’s normal screeches and squeals are starting to take more the form of talking and babbling! Yesterday and today have also been “tongue” days (she does this every couple months — has a day of sticking her tongue out constantly), so lots of the talk is combined with chewing on her freakishly long giraffe tongue.

Scott and Maya go back and forth in a dialog of varied screeches. The exchange ends as the dogs’ wrestling match becomes much more interesting to Maya…
For those who’ve asked: Scott is NOT Maya’s father, and no, we’re not involved romantically. That ship sailed LONG ago. In a week, a gal he dated in Thailand (an American teaching English) flies in, then they take off for a camping tour of New Mexico and Arizona.
…is one of my pasttimes having Maya around. I LOVE making this kid laugh!
My throat hurts.
