Maya surveys the results
of her experiment.

Okay, fine. Baby physicist, at least.

For months, Maya’s experimented with how various and sundry objects fall down the stairs inside the house. Today, it dawned on her that she could do the same with the deck stairs.

Hmmm…how will wind resistance affect the ability of the pink bunny to crash down the stairs to its demise?

Bunny = 5 stairs
Caterpillar dog toy = 4 stairs
Aligator dog toy = 2 stairs
Kong = 1 stair (huh?)
Tennis Ball = out in the yard by the hose
Second Kong = out in the yard past the hose, out of the photo (now that’s more like it)

I’d better head back to the yard — I think I just saw a soccer ball go by. Oops…and there’s a sofa cushion.

I want to ride my tricycle.
I want to ride my trike.
I want to ride my tricycle.
I want to ride it where I like.

(apologies to Queen)

Now, if only her feet would reach the pedals…

What have I come to?

Scott and his girlfriend are coming out for a visit and they’re going to be away from home for a couple weeks. While they’re gone (and here), Scott’s Netflix will come to my house. Crash (which I started to watch while in Seattle last Fall, but was soooo tired) arrives tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to seeing a real-honest-to-god adult movie.

How pathetic is it that I’m more excited about getting Potty Power from amazon today?

Yesterday and today, the dog crates have been Maya’s playtoy.  She tosses toys (or her milk sippy) in, and practices opening and closing the door.

Just now, Maya requested that I come over and help her close the crate door (from inside the crate).  “Dak-U!  Bye! (waving)”

Well, okay then. Guess that takes care of my babysitting needs for the forseeable future.

As I said, Toy Story is now one of Maya’s absolute favorite movies — and we’ve seen it waaaay more than should be allowable. I never did buy a copy of Toy Story 2, but I loved it when I’ve seen it before, so today, we got a copy of TS2.

Um…I got all choked up at the scenes during “When Somebody Loves You,” when Jessie is remembering Emily, her previous child-owner. Seriously. I was about to cry.

Could someone Puh-LEEZE remove the excess of hormones that giving birth seems to have left in my pea brain? Thankyouverymuch.

Ah, mama’s girl.

How’s my breath?

Basenjis often have this odd thing they do, where they’ll stick their noses right up to your mouth until you breathe on them, so they can “see” what you’ve been eating. Katie doesn’t do this, but Clay (my more “typical” basenji) does.

I’m nibbling on some leftover Chicken Tikka Masala (yes, I’m weird, it’s 9am), and Maya asked for a bite. I gave her one, then Clay walked up to her. She started stepping backwards as he got closer and closer, then she finally broke into a grin and just went heeeehhhhh in his face. He was satisfied.

Some days, it’s like National Geographic around here.

Worth what you pay.

Note to self:

If a rocking chair is on sale for $7.50, it’s for a reason. If the original price was $15.00, that’s an even bigger hint.

It’s junk. &*@#%

Maya just:
1. Turned on the television (nothing new there).
2. Changed the input settings from cable to DVD/VCR.
3. Turned on the DVD/VCR.
4. Switched the DVD/VCR to the DVD setting from VCR mode.
5. Turned to stare me down until I got the hint.
6. Said “yeah!” when I hit play for “Baby Monet: The Seasons.”

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

That entertainment armoire I was eyeing is starting to sound like a wise purchase. Doors are a *very* good thing. Well, until she learns to open them, anyway…

In the time it took for me to take this photo, d/l it from my camera, and upload it to the computer/flickr for posting here, Maya tired of BE (can you blame her?) and switched back on cable. I keep cable turned to the “Adult Alternative” music channel. She’s now cranked the volume to max, and dancing to Imogen Heap. Good girl.
