Oh, the ego…and the cuteness
The drawer where I keep Maya’s dresses is well within her reach. The past few mornings, she’s grabbed a dress and pulled it on (usually inside out and/or backwards) over her jammies.
This morning, she came out, announcing to me, “Look at me! Maya is BEA-YOU-TIFUL!”
A moment after I snapped this picture, she spun in circles trying to make the dress stand out, and repeating to herself, “how beautiful!”
The director at Maya’s childcare tells me that her son told Maya, “You are SO cute.” Maya’s response? “Yes, I’m CUTE!”
Hoooooo boy. Is there such a thing as too much self-confidence? I’m hoping we can somehow manage to avoid the insufferable ego she could develop. Of course, she’s also quite loving. She just ran up to me saying, “Look! Grammy and Papa!” while holding a picture of my folks. *melt*
Mike’s been out of town this week, and Maya has (shrug) been sleeping with me instead of in her room. (I’ve told her this stops tonight, since Daddy might actually WANT his space in the bed when he comes home.) Her first words this morning were, “Where’s Daddy? I miss Daddy.” I reminded her that he’s out of town and will be home late, late tonight. “Daddy’s on the airplane! And the helicopter!” “Um, no, honey…just the airplanes.”
