Yes, I do exist!
Every now and then, I suppose I SHOULD actually show myself on here, even if it’s messy and shower-free. ![]()

See him here. (He’s the stocky guy, second from the left.)
Good God…some folks on my “mommy group” were talking about googling exes to see where they’ve gotten off to. Since my college bf, Noe, is the only important one I haven’t kept up with, I figured “why not?”
Last I talked to Noe (1999), he was working for the state of Texas as a lobbyist to the feds in DC…and his boss (GWB) was thinking about running for President. He had aspirations of working in the White House. Looks like he’s made it. Lord knows, he probably gets off on the whole power thing — he was always very into looking important…LOL.
That photo was pre-2004 election. Looks like now, he’s an Associate Director of Political Affairs at the White House. Can’t say I like his boss, but hey, good for him, right?
Yay! I like this guy — giving compliments, AS LONG AS THEY’RE SINCERE, is one of my favorite ways to brighten another’s day.
Here is my new meme. It’s a compli-meme. Go out and spread the news.
Finish these sentences in a complimentary fashion. Copy, paste, finish and leave them in someone’s comment box. Then post them on your own site and pass the word.
1. WOW! Your site is
2. That post was very
3. You’re
YOU’VE BEEN COMPLI-MEME’D. GO OUT AND DO LIKEWISE.
An extra smile goes to those who participate.
Go do it!

Maya is forever grabbing at my cell phone (I use it exclusively…no need for a land line). While moving furniture for the new desk and whatnot, I found this dinosaur, which is now Maya’s new favorite toy…

The past several nights, Maya won’t sleep unless I’m with her. Most nights, this means that I simply go to bed a little earlier (or maybe veg out on the sofa with her on my lap). Tonight, I have a project that’s already overdue, so sofa-time isn’t an option.
It took a little while to get her settled (her feet are hanging out the side; she’s WAY to long to sleep in a sling this way), but for now, she seems to be sleeping fairly well…knock on wood. Of course, my back isn’t too happy about this, but at least I can work! While I have the most understanding boss in the world, there’s still nothing worse than saying, “you know that project I said I’d give you by noon?…” SIGH.

Just the same, blogthings said that Boston best fits me. How ’bout we just skip down to option #4 and go with San Francisco?

And Here’s to You

I heard about this one months ago (during pregnancy, actually) on NPR…and added it to my “buy eventually” list. Since I’d decided to buy “Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart” (review later after I read it), I added this one on to get me above the free shipping rate on Amazon.
LOVE IT! The words were familiar, since they read it on the radio, but the illustrations are just cute as can be, and Maya smiled/laughed at the pictures.
The book goes through a whimsical “toast” to different animals: birds, fish, bears, bugs, cats, dogs, cows, frogs…and finally people. The rhythm of each section just flows and bounces — it’s natural to read it in a way that’s fun for a baby to hear.
The final section toasts the listener…YOU! I love how it celebrates not just the cute and sweet, but the quirky and real also.

I know, not THAT exciting…but considering that I had exactly TWO pieces of furniture before this that I’d picked and purchased (my sofa and my bed), it feels great to have something else that “looks” like it’s mine, instead of so many hand-me-downs.
Some (rare) mornings, I’m actually able to sneak out of bed without waking up Maya. Of course, this was 8-ish, after I convinced her that pre-6-AM was NOT a civilized time to wake up for this WAHM.

. . .
