A blog post that shows how to be a great mom. As Maya grows, I hope to be able to set an example for her like this gal does for her son.

Hard to believe…

…that two days ago, Maya and I took a two-hour hike, and I had on shorts and a short-sleeved top!

…and now I get to figure out how to keep a white turtleneck from staining. More food eaten = more food to puke up!

Hitting Herself

Little Miss Maya was playing with toys on her highchair, and waving her arms, hit herself smack in the forehead with a plastic rattle. She looked at me startled for a moment, the screamed bloody murder. At least this time, it wasn’t ME making her cry (shrug)!

In the foreground, the offending light blue rattle ring.

I added a nice, SOFT toy to the second toy connection so she could play with that, seeing that she was in a “flail the arms” kind of mood. Within seconds, that stuffed turtle was in her mouth, of course.

A safer toy option.

Just after this, we tried apricots for the first time. Y’know, I almost corrected myself to say SHE tried them, but heck, who am I kidding? I did too, and they weren’t all that bad. Actually, they were pretty tasty, if lacking in texture! M2 seemed to think they were good also, as she ate about 2/3 of a jar — the most she’s had EVER in one sitting!

Of course, by the time I got the camera ready, the big grin was replaced with “toes…mmmmmmm…yummy toes.”
