Good Advertising

I just saw a Hyundai ad that struck me.

A family - mom, dad, and daughter (maybe 8?) are walking outside, dressed in beachwear. Looking around the neighborhood, the girl sees neighbors in suits looking harried, getting into their vehicles…a Land Rover, a Lexus, some other expensive vehicles. The family gets into their SUV (a Hyundai, of course), and they pull out of the driveway. As the daughter sees yet another neighbor rush into her expensive SUV, she asks, “Dad, isn’t it Saturday?” “Yup,” he replies.

Tagline: Your life. Your money. Spend it wisely.

Nicely done. I have no desire for a Hyundai, but the idea behind the ad…beautiful. Why have the overpriced status items if it means that we get no life?

So that’s how I’m feeling…

I finally realized today how I feel. I feel short. I mean, I AM short (5′3″), but I feel like my torso could use about 2-3″ extra. Heck, as short-waisted as I am, that would probably put me in proportion! Anyway, what I’d give for a Spanish-Inquisition stretcher about right now…

The visit to the Chiropractor seemed good yesterday afternoon, and I’ll return for a “real first appointment” tomorrow morning, thank god. He’s also a nutritionist, and partway through working on a doctorate of Naturopathy, so this looks like the kind of practitioner I wanted.

Howard Jones’ song, Things Can Only Get Better just came on. You know, I’ve always considered that such a positive, upbeat song…but if things can only get better, doesn’t that mean they’re currently in the shitter? Hmmm.

I woke up this morning in a mood. My “afternoon backache” (usually hits me around 3-4pm) was there before I even got out of bed, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

Merrie’s first recommendation for a chiropractor isn’t taking new patients, and likely won’t for another month, since he’s absorbing his former partner’s clients first. I nearly started to cry on the phone. Fortunately, her second recommendation was able to get me in this afternoon for a consult. The pricing isn’t as bad as I might have thought, and I will likely build the cost of at least one adjustment appointment into my monthly budget. This other doc does also do infant/pediatrics and nutrition, so I’m hoping he’ll be a good resource for after the baby arrives.
